Swansea Bus Station is Changing

Swansea’s city centre bus station is set to undergo a £11 million redevelopment.

The existing bus station located next to the Quadrant Shopping Centre will be transformed into a modern bus station with state of- the-art facilities.

The new bus station will have 20 bus bays and three coach stands, modern passengers facilities and waiting areas, easy access to the shops, ticket sales and information and Shopmobility facilities.

The existing bus station is due to close in June 2009 to enable work to start.

The project is expected to last 15 months and will bring significant changes to bus services during that period.

During the work, the bus station will be completely closed to traffic and passengers.

In its place, a series of temporary bus stops will be located across the city centre (please click here for details).

Each service will have a single, dedicated bus stop where passengers catch and alight their bus.

These temporary arrangements will mean a change for passengers, but they can access information throughout the city centre, via leaflets, posters, websites and from the bus operators - contact details are included in this leaflet.

Swansea Council, bus operators and city centre businesses are working together to ensure people have access to the city centre, despite the temporary changes.

The project is a partnership between Swansea Council, Welsh Assembly Government and The European Office.
