Launch of Additional Trains to Fishguard

Five additional train services to Fishguard (Monday - Saturdays) will be funded by the Welsh Government for at least the next three years.  The new services were launched by Carl Sargeant AM, Minister for Local Government and Communities, at FishguardHarbouron 12th September 2011.  A mixture of through services and good connections will be provided to Carmarthen,London andCardiff and the rest of the rail network.

In addition to the Minister, dignitaries from Arriva Trains Wales, Network Rail, the South West Wales Integrated Transport Consortion (SWWITCH) and the North Pembrokeshire Transport Forum spoke at the launch. 

The All Points West Community Rail Partnership (under the leadership of Community Rail OfficerAlex Owen) helped with arrangements, and specially designed postcards were distributed to mark the event and promote the new train services.

Entertainment was provided by Goodwick County CouncillorMoira Lewison the harp and the Côr Newyddion Da, directed by Marilyn Lewis.  Refreshments were provided by Arriva Trains Wales and Stena Line.
