NEW BUS SERVICES EASY AS £1, £2, FREE!

Arriva Buses Wales is changing its services in Aberystwyth from Monday 28th June by creating six simple routes with three simple fares.

The bus company, whose depot is on Park Avenue in Aberystwyth, has numbered the new services from one to six. The services run from the town’s station around the centre and to destinations including Borth, Ynyslas, Penrhyncoch and Clarach Beach Holiday Parks.

Fares are also being simplified so that customers will pay only £1 for a single fare within the Aberystwyth Town Centre Zone (which covers all of services 1,2 and 3) or just £2 if they are travelling further afield on the 4,5 and 6 services. Travel is free for over sixties with a Cerdyn Cymru pass.

People in Aberystwyth are being invited to find out more about the new routes during an event at Aberystwyth bus station in the town centre between 10am and 2pm on Thursday 1st July.

Arriva Buses Wales Marketing Manager, Nick Gordon, said: “On Thursday we’ll be informing customers about our new routes, which we think will make it easier to get around Aberystwyth and surrounding areas. We will be inviting people to roll up to throw our special giant dice, and if they are lucky enough to roll the same number as the bus route nearest their home address, they will win free bus travel.

“Not only are we reducing the price of some of our fares, we are also making it easier for our paying customers because they will only have to find £1 or £2 coins rather than smaller change. We will be more than happy to answer any questions about our new pricing and our revised services at our event on Thursday.”

The new routes (which run back and forth between destinations) replace the existing town centre routes 501, 502, 504 and 510, and are as follows:

Service 1 – Aberystwyth Station, University, Waun Fawr, Llanbadarn, Coleg Ceredigion, Morrisons Store
Service 2 – Aberystwyth Station, Park Avenue, Welsh Assembly, Morrisons, Tyn-y-fron, Penparcau, Aberystwyth Station
Service 3 - Aberystwyth Station, Penparcau, Tyn-y-fron, Morrisons Store, Welsh Assembly, Park Avenue, Marine Terrace, Aberystwyth Station
Service 4 – Aberystwyth Station, University, Bow Street, Borth Station, Ynyslas
Service 5 – University Porter’s Lodge, Aberystwyth Station, Park Avenue, Welsh Assembly, Morrisons, Llanbadarn, Comins Coch, IBERS, Penrhyncoch
Service 6 – Aberystwyth Station, University, Bow Street, Clarach Beach Holiday Parks
