The Great Outdoors in the Vale of Neath- By Bus!
New horizons open up for bus passengers as, following a successful season in 2009, sustainable transport partnership BayTrans is again financially supporting a Sunday bus link from Swansea and Neath to the Vale of Neath this year.
Two fine walks on the Neath Canal, Melincourt Waterfall, St Illtyd’s 6th Century Church at Llantwit and Pontneddfechan’s spectacular waterfall country will all be easily reached on the X5 bus. And a bonus is a link to the Beacons Bus network adding Penderyn Whisky Distillery and the National Park Visitor Centre all on a day out ticket!
Welcoming the new service, Resolven County Councillor Des Davies said “I am delighted that more visitors will be encouraged to come to the Vale of Neath’s many attractions by bus and that residents in the valley will have a direct link to the popular Beacons Bus for the first time”.
John Davies, Project Officer for BayTrans added “this is an important step forward in our promotion of more sustainable access to the countryside in conjunction with Neath Port Talbot Council and to have secured a deal to link into the successful Beacons Bus network”
Kevin Hart, Commercial Director for First Cymru, operators of the X5 service said: “we are pleased to be associated with this initiative which opens up new journey opportunities for our customers in Neath and the valleys"
