15,000 park and ride places for Ryder Cup
Park and ride facilities for golf fans will be in place for this year's Ryder Cup.
Land at the former steelworks at Llanwern will be used to accommodate up to 12,000 cars travelling from the east of England, while an expanded car park at Tredegar House will provide space for up to 3,000 cars arriving from the west of the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.
Surfacing work at both sites is already under way and is expected to be completed by the end of May.
Both sites will include facilities for security and ticket checks for people alighting coaches to take them to the event via a purpose built junctions on the A449.
Richard Hills, Ryder cup director, said:'THe event will be a sell out, which means we will have up to 30,000 people a day going through the two sites, and we want every single one of them to have a great time.'
