TRAVELINE CYMRU GO FURTHER TO HELP TRAVELLERS IN WALES
The Welsh Assembly Government’s travel information service has widened its remit to help more people travel further around Wales.
With the support of the Community Transport Association (CTA) Wales, Traveline Cymru have introduced a brand new map to their website showing travellers unable to use traditional public transport, where they can access community transport services across Wales.
The map of Wales shows contact details, vehicle access and eligibility for the many voluntary and community transport schemes, as well those run by some local authorities across Wales. It also gives further information about community transport as well as contact details for the Community Transport Association (CTA) Wales.
Traveline Cymru is thrilled to be able to provide additional information to the public transport, walking, cycling and car sharing information they already provide. General Manager, Graham Walter said: ‘Traveline Cymru seeks to be the one stop shop for all travel and transport information in Wales, making it easier for people to plan their journeys by whatever means they wish. We are delighted with the addition of the Community Transport Map to our website as it enriches the information we are able to provide to the travelling public in Wales.’
Betsan Caldwell, Director for Wales for the Community Transport Association (CTA) said: “We are keen to raise the profile of flexible and accessible community transport services across Wales, to enable those whose transport needs are not currently met to access vital services. Our previous A2BWales website was not well known, and I am very pleased that by working in partnership with Traveline Cymru, this information has now been incorporated into their high profile website.”
Look out for more developments to the Traveline Cymru services which are coming later in 2010. These will include the ability to plan an integrated journey including bus, coach, rail, bike, on foot, by car or using park and ride.
