NextBuses for iPhone a Runaway Success in the App Store
Malcolm Barclay’s “NextBuses” application has been a runaway success in the iTunes App Store. It reached No. 8 in the overall UK charts 4 days after release and is currently the No. 1 selling travel application.
NextBuses delivers departure information for 370,000 bus, coach and tram stops throughout England, Scotland & Wales. The application uses Traveline’s NextBuses service, which is also available on your mobile as WAP service or through the Traveline SMS service
“I have always wanted to turn an iPhone into a departure board for any bus stop. Traveline allowed me access to the data so I could build this app, the response has been amazing” says Barclay.
NextBuses can display a mixture of scheduled & real-time (where available) departure information based on the user’s location, a postcode or locality they enter. Many real time services are available in Wales.
Graham Walter, General Manager at Traveline Cymru said “This app offers a new way to engage with the growing market of iPhone users. It takes a step forward as we continue to improve the accessibility of public transport information in Wales”
The application is available now in the iTunes store for 59p.
