Silver Star Holiday’s Silver Leaf Scheme

30th JULY 2009

The effect of everyday life on the environment is such a big issue in our society these days.  Businesses can either bury its head or face the issue head on.  Silver Star Holidays have decided to take the latter approach. In the summer of 2008 they proudly launched their Silver Leaf Scheme.

The idea behind the scheme is to provide trees to the local community to represent every one of the 12,000 passengers they carry every year.  Silver Star recognized that in doing so they can make steps towards lowering their carbon footprint, as well as giving something back to the local communities who have supported them for all these years.  The people who would benefit from the scheme would be schools, hospitals, communities and village gardens, hostels and many other deserving projects and groups.  The project has been taken on in partnership with Gwynedd Council, and the trees have been provided from a locally sourced tree nursery at Glynllifon Park.

The response and demand for the trees has been great.  They have created an awareness not only with the local children but also with adults, societies and organisations locally, about the environmental issues facing our planet today.  Silver Star are also hoping, with the continued support of our customers, that many more trees will be planted around North Wales next year.  Remember, every time you travel on a Silver Star Coach Holiday you are supplying a tree of the local area.
