What is Cymru Connect? 
Cymru Connect is a Welsh Assembly Government funded scheme allowing you to travel to anywhere in Wales formerly not accessible by train, using one through rail ticket.
How does it work?
Through a partnership between Arriva Trains Wales and bus operators in Wales, Cymru Connect allows the customer to book a ticket at a UK rail station* and travel from point A to point B in Wales using a combination of rail and bus in one single transaction.**
What are the key features?
• Access:
Ensuring passengers can travel from any UK rail station to places not on the rail network, when booking their rail ticket.
• Shorter Journey Times:
Enabling passengers to make a shorter journey by rail and bus, rather than a lengthy cross country rail journey.
• Cheaper Fares:
Providing a more cost effective way of making certain journeys to and around Wales saving time and money.
Why is it so important?
Cymru Connect integrates rail and bus journeys across Wales to provide a joined up offering.
Prior to Cymru Connect, if you were to visit Swansea Railway Station and ask for a journey to
Aberystwyth, you would be offered a 5 ½ hour rail journey via Shrewsbury.
With Cymru Connect you can travel from Swansea to Aberystwyth via Carmarthen using the train and the Traws Cambria coach service taking a far more reasonable 3 hours 19 minutes.
How can I purchase a Cymru Connect ticket?
You can purchase a Cymru Connect ticket at any rail station in the same way you would purchase any other rail ticket***. You will need to present the rail part of your ticket to the ticket inspector on the train, and the bus part of the ticket to the driver on the bus in order to make your journey.
How do I find out when and where to catch my bus and train?
To find times and stops for your journey, you need to speak to Traveline Cymru the one stop shop for public transport information in Wales.
You can either call Traveline on 0871 200 22 33**** and speak to a friendly bilingual call centre agent or log on to the website www.traveline-cymru.info and plan your journey online.
